Uni Bucarest logoSpanish boasts a 70-year old tradition at the University of Bucharest. The Spanish teaching staff here are members of the Department of Romance Linguistics and Iberian-Romance Languages and Literatures. Our department is made up of: 17 academics (out of which 2 in Romance Linguistics, 3 in Portuguese Language and Literature, 12 in Spanish Language and Literature) and 1,500 students, of which 900 study Spanish.

Spanish is taught in 4 areas at the University of Bucharest, as follows: Spanish Philology, Translation-Interpretation, Applied Modern Languages and non-philological faculty courses.
Disciplines taught at the University of Bucharest roughly overlap with European curricula, i.e.: Spanish and Hispano-American Literature(s) and Culture(s), Spanish Linguistics, Terminology, Specialized Languages, Translation Theory and Practice, Methodology, Practical Courses, General Linguistics, Theory of Literature, Comparative Literature etc.

Prof. Coman Lupu is head of Department. He has been affiliated with the University of Bucharest for more than 30 years. He has published 12 books and over 50 articles in the field.
